They got too cocky on mega drive success. Should have sticked with saturn, not make dreamcast so soon. Only make your next console when the first one proves successful.

Still, BTFOs the N64 in the modern day. Nobody cares about the sloppy4, everyone loves the CHADturn.

I'm a Segafag and even I don't care about the Saturn. I don't think there's a single game on the Saturn I care much about. Guardian Heroes is neat but not a favorite beat 'em up for me.

You're a sonic kid, so essentially a nintendoid so you don't matter.

It had a bunch of great games. Unfortunately 2/3 of them were never released outside Japan. Sega of America was ran by complete retards during the Saturn era and pretty much the Dreamcast era too. I could have saved it.
Anonymous No.718593346
Saturn had some of my favorite games from that era.

This. No Sega fan would say that about the Saturn.

Way to prove OP's point. I have literally never seen a thread on /v/ about any of these two games.

Its a better 2d machine than the playstation. If you like 2d arcade ports of the era, its a great console

They get brought up all the time on /vr/ and elsewhere online. /v/ talks about the most trite shit 95% of the time so I’m not surprised you’ve never seen these games mentioned here.

Unironically nothing wrong with having quadrilateral based 3d graphics and the industry should have gone in that direction.

On PS1, texture warping was baked into the GPU you could only mask it, not eliminate it.

On Saturn, the wobbly mesh effect was more of a software/asset prep issue if you invested time subdividing and optimizing, you could effectively remove most of it (at a performance cost).

Sonic R is fucking trash. And yes, I own a Saturn.
Anonymous No.718595779
The Saturn had around 1,100 games released, compared to around 1,300 for the NES and 1,700 for the SNES.
That's not so bad, especially when you compare it to the N64 and its ridiculous <400 games, 200 of which were shovelware racing or sports games with no effort or thought put into them.

They prioritized 2d graphics over 3d and paid the price in an era where everyone wanted the best 3d graphics
