What visual novel have you been reading lately?
Ever17 for me. It's been quite the ride. Always up for a fun mystery.

The best novel ever made, F/SN.

I read I/O by the same writer. The VN's writing style is weird but I like the story because of its focus on identity and remembering. Also the OP is god tier.

Anyway I started reading Utawarerumono but it's bland so far.

I like it, and I think Nakazawa is good at exploring themes of identity in his works. It's kind of hard to take seriously at times, though, partially due to the ages of the characters. I know Jap fiction always puts teens in improbable positions and treats them as older than they are, but it's more jarring here since Infinity mostly avoided that (excluding Izumi and remake Sara) and felt more realistic for it. I find it especially bizarre how Tsukasa had an obviously creepy relationship with 14 year-old Mutsuki but nobody in Anunnaki gave a shit. Even Hinata doesn't seem to care about it that much.

First game is pretty fucking comfy. I think the second and third game are more in line with modern kino cinema though. They're all pretty golden in their time period but that's what it is. early 2000s stuff was slower paced. Holy shit the third game has the highest highs I've ever seen in a VN though, best opening too.

I like the movie better but it really didn't deserve the same ending. I'm so mixed about the actual VN though. Two of the routes are just whatever and the main route is insanely stupid. It has a magical prose and does feel like a summer dream which is nice. Atmosphere is the best outta the 3 VNs but good lord yes yes ancient japanese mythology and culture shit I'd never understand but I turned myself into a crow to save you! :D is fucking RETARDED jesus fucking christ.

Aoi Shiro, a yuri game. The original Akai Ito was one of my childhood favorite games and it's a classic i just beat it again. And previously beat Ever17 (10/10 masterpiece)
