Other states are following in their wake. That is fundamentally a destruction of representative government.

2 - Trump has illegally taken over Washington DC with an occupying military force and has expressed a desire to do the same to any city he dislikes. It doesn't get any less democratic than using force to supercede the duly elected local government.
