It's a non-linear act where you have to explore a set of islands. You have a boat that moves around and you go to different islands and can tackle them in whatever order you like.

Unless they eventually add genderbend MTX there won't be. The women are exclusively pure dex or pure int characters. PoE follows more traditional fantasy roles.
Also the characters themselves ARE characters. Yeah it is dumb that 10000 "Warriors" exist but he has a full backstory, personality, and even slight changes to the story (the blacksmith in the first town is your adoptive father).

I got filtered in act 2 because i couldnt do enough damage to the boss in the desert dungeon, the game refused to give me a good fucking weapon... did they fix the drops.
