not sure how the games industry works, but my company had a deal with another company for 'leftover workforce'.
The idea was basically that my company was looking for people and they wanted to cut back on workforce. The deal was we take some of them, pay them the regular salary and the old company pays a bonus for what they originally earned (some of them earned way more than we usually pay, so the old company just pays the difference for some time).
Now if you think about this for a bit, you might get an idea what kind of people you get with a deal that basically says 'we even pay you to take them'
