Never. The technical challenges of a true brain interface are too great, too expensive, and too dangerous.
The best you can hope for is an EEG device integrated into a VR headset to let you perform simple mental commands. But it would be easier to just implement voice commands for that.

“Full dive” tech is still pure science fiction. Near term all you’ll see is continued miniaturization of headsets. Getting AR/VR down to sunglasses size to make them more socially acceptable is the focus more than improving fidelity and power is.

Never because SAO is not a VR game

Nobody really plays VR Chat anymore because all the racists and assorted edgepunks ruined it. Once I was playing VRChat and was in one of those worlds that have a bunch of avatars. I saw one guy with an edgy anime girl avatar start screaming about how much he hated black people and started screaming the N-word. Black lightning was coming from their body and getting more and more intense until my game crashed.

VR is currently in Xbox 360 and PS3 generation. Both graphically and in normie acceptance. If you wanna buy a Meta Quest 3 for VR's killer app software Pavlov Shack then buy. We're having loads of fun with alcohol and, "Mountain Dew" bros.
