I don't know if it holds up in singleplayer but I've had fun with it in co-op. Something like 50 hours per run and the map connectivity is great.

I thought it held up pretty well as a single player experience. There's really not much grind and some parts felt a bit closer to the feel of playing Half-Life for the first time, at least for me.

Lack of enemy variety is the worst part for me, the aliens are all the same and a couple portal worlds are wasted on humans instead of something more interesting. If they came up with two or three more alien factions it'd be 10/10.

Nah, everyone was fisting their prostates over this game a few weeks back and I jumped in with a few friends. Got boring quick. Same enemies, combat is usual survivalslop, building is super restrictive and the first area is the best place to build up anyways None of the RPG character choices seemed to matter.

My favorite game this year and it's not even close. Kinda got burned out before finishing my 2nd playthrough but I got 194 hours out of it and both my playthroughs were back to back.

What the fuck is this thing and why isn't it going away? The Leyak isn't this annoying, I've shot it, the local robots have slapped it around, it just doesn't go away or die.

This. I know a lot of people will dislike it because "muh survivalslop" but it's probably the only survival game outside of Minecraft that's done it for me. I think it's the setting and layout of the world. If this was procedurally generated I'd also hate this, but the fact it's a Half-Life/Shock style game only you're expected to make a base somewhere is neat.

Are any of the defenses worth it after tesla? A tesla or two with support from the player and a couple shock traps melt all the raids. The drop shields make defense even easier

I'm honestly surprised how easy this shithead is to deal with after all the people I've seen freaking out about him.
He's like Mr X if he was extremely lazy and socially awkward. Also he almost always spawns in or near that small security room for me, so putting an X-ray turret out here has meant I've gone hours without seeing him other than his nuclear shits on the floor.
There's still a small risk of him appearing in the starting lift in my canteen base though.

Leyak isn't supposed to be dangerous as such. Spooky, creepy, unsettling, stressful, yes, sure. Something to keep you on your toes, to make you twitch when you see it around the corner or hear the laboured breathing. Sure, you can get unlucky and run into it around a corner when out of stamina, but the amount of things that must've gone wrong at this point meant you likely deserved to die anyway.

The devs seem pretty active in updating and patching so hopefully endgame will get balanced soon. Otherwise this is GOTY for me, but it's not like there's been any competition, outside of that French Final Fantasy thing that's offensively French.

What does Kizz Cola even do to you? I've drank a few and it just seems to hydrate the shit out of you and cause a weird screen effect for a split second sometimes.
I notice the harder mechs (that get out and sprint after you in the day, that was terrifying) have Kizz in them when they die, implying the mechs are restocking the SCP soda for some reason.

I usually longjump w cube to get around in some areas faster for farming routes desu. But in general I never felt a need for more mobility aside from using the cube and power legs. at least until lategame where the exor armor is the best thing ever and replaces the power legs for the most part

Long Jump Pack + Grav Cube + Maestro set is fun as fuck though. You basically just get to naruto jump accross huge swathes of the facility in one go if you space your jumps right

that was one of my points, singleplayer works best if you change settings. Multiplayer works well out of the box. changing stack sizes doesnt affect inventory slots though.
