The sequel after a 8 year wait was a sidegrade and a minimal downgrade.
The levels were too vertical without letting you advance from any point, you had to follow a specific chokepoint like you're playing Jade Creek on steroids for every single level.
The music went from Alexander Brandon rock to a more frilly distilled version. The final boss music for Morgana was garbage.
The enemies & bosses were much harder than the first with the bosses running around all over the place instead of chasing you and the previous game's elite enemies appearing as normal enemies in most stages.
The levels got split in half to pretend it has 20+ levels rather than just 10 like the first game. So you would no longer go from a temple to an underground crystal cave or from a city to a mall in the first level, they'd be separated instead and they weren't longer their level design was simply halved. Except for that 1 level where you need to find a bunch of keys in the water area.
The RPGish elements and exploration did not improve much beyond the challenge dome area and the small boss brawling area and I guess the unlockables for the secret level and secret boss that's a reference to System Shock. I guess there's the museum area for unlockables too but that also doesn't unlock much gamepla
The final boss is repetitive and annoying , it's harder, but as a character and as gameplay Merga is shit compared to Brevon. Carol's sister is garbage as an pre-endgame boss and I felt the need to rape her to teach her place. She's absolutely no Green from Gunstar Heroes no matter how much he wanted to rip her off. She's pathetic as a doppelganger and more pathetic than Serpentine... seriously that's his name?
The creator would have had more success if he started a Patreon and released a level every year or 6 months till completion instead of blue-balling everyone for 8 years. Children grew into adults by the time the sequel released.
It was clear he didn't want to make games anymore.
