Been wanting to make a game like this since I was a kid. I prefer the typing over point-and-click. And with AI there could be plethora of different responses and animations
Didnt expect a kq thread of all things today. Tbh, my first exposure was from the tierra fan remakes. Managed to play through 4 to 6 a few years ago when they were on sale.

Not so obvious. You wash up on the island after the whale and if you dont look around and snag it, you can't go back.
I always savescummed, but still. I like how critically important items can't be regained. Like the dress in KQ6 if you go to the druid isle--you lose it and forces you down another path

Zero-budget point and clicks are one of the few things where I might be persuaded to spend real money on it despite AI art, assuming the AI art was handled decently (Using inpainting for a crude 3-4 keyframes of animation or something. Not the AI animation unless you're doing pseudo-FMV-like kino) and the writing wasn't AI which would be near impossible to trust
PROTIP: If you're a zoomer, and you're frustrated by the design of older adventure games, in particular those by Sierra, might I recommend the AGD Interactive remakes of King's Quest 1, 2, and 3?

I wouldn't be bothered by Sierra adventures killing me as long as I was confident I couldn't get myself into an unwinnable spot, but I have a dim memory of a fucked up play of one of the Space Quest games and now I'm a nervous wreck. Old RPGs can be guilty of that shit too

It was probably Space Quest 1. If you forget one of the items in the space station before you jettison from it, you can go on for like an hour before getting stuck because you don't have the translating device.

Of all the remakes I've ever tried of Sierra games, Quest for Glory 2 was the most impressive. Three was okay, and four was still pretty good, so it was a shame to see the series basically die out. Only a handful of games I know tried the point and click RPG formula after that, but QFG was so damn satisfying to finish. https://www.agdinteractive.com/games/qfg2/homepage/homepage.html
