What went wrong? And please don't use that nonsense of "woke" or "sweet baby inc", there are games that sweet baby Inc helped (God Of War, Spider-Man, Alan Wake 2, Elden Ring) and those games were not only great but we're really successful.

It unironically didn't do very well because it features a black woman as the main character, and the preview of that egregious acting in the beginning with "Did I just do that with my MIND?"
It was woke. The game itself is firmly mediocre.

The issue isn't that the protagonist is a black woman, though.
It's that they made her a plain urban youth.
Make her sexy, and it's suddenly a selling point.
Halle Barry certainly isn't the reason the Catwoman game flopped.

The zeitgeist changed before the game did. Forspoken was Concord before Concord, it was a mediocre game that said nothing with characters nobody liked, using dialogue that grated people and mechanics better represented in other games.
