>best setting for an open world action adventure RPG
>Bethesda still has yet to buy its license and make some good slop from it
Why the fuck are they avoiding this franchise so much?
It is well known and its basically free money even if the game is mediocre.

>best setting
lmao retard
it's literally a washed out version of high-fantasy
major themes of GoT is there's no more real glory, honor, magic, fantasy elements

dragons? extinct
magic? lmao
monsters? people don't believe in them anymore

at least Tolkien has larger-than-life characters who can do amazing things, which allows the ceiling for an RPG-based stat and progression system, as well as having mobs and enemies that are more than just humans.

>dragons?
they exist in all the timeframes prior to the 150 years small timeframe of the awoiaf universe.
>magic
exists as well
>monsters
exist as well
ffs have you even read the books?

>major themes of GoT is there's no more real glory, honor,
Again these all exist as well they just are more rare and those characters that do have them are shown.

Tolkien wrote a childrens fantasy, GRRM has a more grounded version and more mature one which I think people would love to play more and the developers could explore more themes rather than in a Tolkien game.
Besides implementing a combat system for a Tolkien game would be a nightmare.

Because the ending of the main show soured way too many people on it. Then they made a spin-off that had one good season and then shit the bed again, souring people even more.
Nobody likes ASOIAF anymore.

because the show completely imploded in the last 2 seasons to the point where even normies dropped it and want nothing to do with it ever again

and don't mention house of the dragon it's irrelevant by comparison

They love the setting and that is how you push it.
Imagine a dragon age type game in a ASOIAF setting.
Literal moneyprinting for dlcs and loads of other shit.

There's no demand for it because the vast majority of the normies who made Game of Thrones a household name and made it the pop culture juggernaut it was never cared about anything deeper than the story they were being shown every week. Once it was over and ended in a way that everybody hated, it shouldn't be surprising that nobody is asking for anything more in that universe. They had their chance to capitalize on its popularity then, and some studios tried, there was that Telltale GoT series for example, but that was it. Don't expect to see any more unless the series inexplicably becomes popular again (it wont)

Gas yourself. I'd say "read the actual books, especially the Silmarillion" but actually I'd rather you just gas yourself.

Yeah people would hate to play in Tolkien's work that's why there are zero worthwhile ASOIAF games (all that really exists is mobile slop) and there's dozens of LOTR games not including the fan made, completely free, massive overhauls of games unrelated to Tolkien's work set in his world

The truth is, the fantasy was just asleep, and it's already waking up in parts of the world. I kind of want to rip off that one premise.

A world where people think that the age of magic and fantastic creatures is long gone, so much so that people think it was just a myth, but it turns out that they're all going to have to start from scratch relearning spells, enchantments, and kraken hunting as a civilization real soon.
All they have left in terms of prior knowledge are old writings from a language they don't even speak anymore, or practical rituals transformed into symbolic tradition.

There have been several GoT official licensed PC/console games and they all suck because the series story doesn't actually provide any opportunity for a good videogame story. The setting is revealed to be exceedingly sparse, it's "what if war of the roses" but lacking the medieval England to go under it and a game makes you look at what's missing. He wrote lore but for a world that's just generic D&D definition low fantasy that has nothing at all special about it.

In Tolkien's side, it helps that he expressly wrote his world to be full of gaps and room for future works. He didn't like the idea of other people doing it, but it was clear the hobbit/lotr wasn't his only story in mind for the world.

Because it's a character centric work of writing. The world by itself isn't that interesting.
