my first time playing and it’s already my fav. MGS1 was pretty good but the combat is dated as fuck, MGS2 is ruined solo by Rose and so far MGS3 has the best support characters, love talking to Paramedic and your commander is a cool British guy

and yes I know the remake is coming in a week but I wanted to play the original first

although I played msg 5 when came out (I was completely lost story wise of course) and you know what? kojima is alright, even thinking mgs1 is dated, back in 98 that game prob would’ve blown your mind

MGS3 is the most balanced MGS game between gameplay, story, characters, etc. No wonder they chose it for a big remake. Maybe hopefully MGS1 can get a proper remake.

MGS3 really is the best one. You playing the PS2 original or one of the newer ports? I never liked the newer ports because of the lack of the pressure sensitive buttons and triggers. It's a bit weird at first but once you get it it controls pretty smoothly, like lightly holding square to ready your gun and holding it hard to shoot, or first person leaning done by pressing down hard on L2/R2 while in first person.

chronologically yes but the game is very much made with the idea that you know what happened in MG, MG2, MGS1 and MGS2.

If youre solely going off of gameplay then mgs5 is the best.

Mgs3 being the best is the obvious newfag opinion because these games are a mix of the gameplay but also the characters and mgs3 suffers greatly in the character portion due to the bosses being fucking stupid. Besides the main bosses, its incredible that Kojima had a cool character like Ocelot and turned him into a total bitch. The guy fucking meows and youre supposed to not laugh at that? This nigger is audacious.

This is why mgs1 is the best. Its the most serious as Kojima wasnt let completely loose and off his leash. Yeah there's dumb shit like otacon asking if love can bloom on the battlefield but thats way preferable to a fat guy rollerblading being taken seriously or all the fucking bosses in 4.
