Pre-chapter 3 Andrew was in appareance a dormat but in reality he always cared about his sister. And wanted usually to protect her, causing Ashley to grow spoiled. He only lost his marbles in specific points of the story.
Pre-chapter 3 Ashley was manipulative and smooth. Mostly selfish but expected from a person who was mistreated since her childhood except for her older brother.
Pre-chapter 3 Rene was a shitty mom and negligent. But the tone was more funny and mischievous, with her trying to manipulate Andrew and being neglectful with Ashley. She selling them to the soda company was handwaved as a joke.

In chapter 3
Andrew is portrayed like a murder hobo regard who can't decide between hating Ashley and loving her. His outright abusive when previously he feel guilty about choking Ashley. Now he beats her up and thinks nothing of it. Acts like a cuck constantly by leaving her alone just because.
Ashley is now the punching bag of the story, she can't manipulate Andrew, she can't do anything right except cry and receive beatings.
Rene is a super villain who outright treated Ashley like shit and was not even smooth or convincing like she was in the previous chapter.

Also, the story has been cuck teasing the characters multiple times. Making it overral more and more unsavory and the dialogue is less believable.
