the situation for those unaware, was that when Sonic gens was taken off steam and then re-released as shadowgens, certain aspects of female characters were changed. Rouge was made to show less skin and Amy's cutscenes no longer had her pining for Sonic.
My assumption is that a DEI consulting firm such as super baby inc was hired. These types of companies always justify their own existence by making these strange little changes everywhere. Dead Space has a lot of this residue all over its remake.
