From my experience the Sonic games are the only ones where I feel the general consensus is usually accurate because the fanbase is a bunch of abused autistic perfectionists.
Every other game in existence gets a reputation and is stuck with it til the end of time with most people never actually playing it to make a proper judgment

Every negative things said about this game goes 100% to the plot and the characters, it has the best gameplay of the ivalice games.

I'd rather they leave 8,9 and 10 untouched as they are great how they are. The 7 remake was sooo bad imo, made the whole cast and every NPC soul/lifeless with dead faces, and added stupid mmobtype quests for no reason. Also loads of empty tunnels and cutscenes.

>all enemies level up with you making late game fucking impossible if you level up too much
>the plot derails after the second half, probably because of rewrites and stuff getting cut
Yeah, no
There's a reason 8 was considered the worst in the series before 13 came out
Most of it success came from surfing on the popularity of 7 and being a step up graphically for the time

The story of A2 isn't as bad as anons like to hyperbolize but it's still practically non-existent and very generic for a tactics franchise that started with you being an unsung hero redacted from history and covered up by the church for thousands of years

>a2
It's an improvement over the first FFTA but it's just an extremely watered down version of the original. I tried playing through it but after several hours I was still just rotating everyone between the bog standard base jobs who are simplified versions of what they were in FFT.

Are you underage? The game got a lot of flack. There were a ton of arguments on GameFAQs about some of the bullshit systems like Draw functionality in general, the game encouraging you not to use your best magic and leveling up being objectively bad for you.

the plot of A2 is obviously an opposite reaction from the perceived flaws of A1. One of the main complaints towards Marche was how unnatural it is playing as a character who doesn't even want to be in his own isekai'd setting, and Luso obviously wants to eventually go home but is also excited to explore Ivalice. It's more celebratory to the ivalice setting and I can see why they'd go in that direction

It's funny that levelling up is generally bad for you in FFT since random enemy levels match yours but their stats curve upward much more sharply than yours do, yet no one complains about it in that game
Anonymous No.718663209
FFT, FFTA, and FFTA2 are gameplay wise solid grinding gruel for when you want to autism-sperg on customizing your dudes while making noombers go up. All of them are a bit overhyped mechanically and are mostly just brainless grinders that get a reputation for being smart because you can break them if you actually use your brain.

Storywise I think A2 probably left less of an impression on people because it was standard isekai coming after the memetically overhyped anti-escapism allegory of Adance, on top of being closer to that game mechanically then Adance had been to the original.

Sex with the dragon girls though.

This is false. Mandatory battles have fixed levels and you can grind to brute force the game if you want. Random battles getting more difficult is a good thing because enemies also have better equipment for you to steal.

It's only bad when you get uncommon enemies like red chocobos but generally it's pretty tame because story missions has fixed levels , growth rates are slow and only increase stats every 7 levels (only hp increases every level) , also it helps when your game has no defense values and every armor just increases hp and sometimes your attacking stats , on the opposite scale in tactics ogre luct the level scaling is complete ass because level growths are incredibly significant , and is the difference between winning with medium difficulty or straight up losing , if you are 3 or 4 levels behind the enemy and you don't have some meta build you are just going to get curbstomped

The main negative thing about TA2 is that story is not only fucking plain (even if you include some sidequest plotlines) but it's fucking raw and plotlines are dropped left and right while a ton of screentime in main quests is wasted on randoms fucks (especially Vaan and Penelo) doing nothing. Say what you want about TA's plot but at least Marche had some personality and the plot was about the kids themselves and not some irrelevant shit like in TA2.
Brightmoon Tor is a bullshit dungeon which is countered by absolutey bullshit class combos (like how Red Mage + Red Chocobo Knight enable a loop where the enemy never gets a turn).

I said random battles in my post, also enemy equipment is based on game progression and not level. However you can recruit a high level monster to break the story battles I guess

Been many years since I 100% TA2, but it went something like this
>Red Mage (Viera)
Have Double Spell learned
Have Summoning in second active skill slot
Have either of three elemental shields equipped (I think the reason you use Red Mage instead of Summoner is because Red Mages can equip Shields by default or something, maybe you need Shieldbearer ability otherwise)
Have Blood MP ability equipped
Have at least three base elemental summons learned (Ifrit / Shiva / Ramuh)
>Red Chocobo Knight (Moogle)
I don't really remember why it has to be Red one - higher Speed / lower HP than others / some good Chococraft skill just in case?
Have Critical: Quicken as passive (basically he always go next when he reach red HP)
Have Acrobatics in second active skill slot
Have Smile Toss learned
Have either of three elemental shields equipped
>The loop
Due to high base Speed and Move stats, move Chocobo Knight right near the closest enemy.
Move Red Mage as close as possible and Double Cast summons on both enemy and Chocobo Knight, ideally getting him to red HP.
Chocobo Knight goes next due to Quicken, and he uses Smile Toss on Red Mage.
Now Red Mage does Double Cast on enemy (to deal damage), Chocobo Knight (to heal him and then damage him to get him back to red HP to proc Quicken) and herself (to heal from HP loss spent on Double Cast) by jugglng betweens summons that heal her and Chocobo Knight through shield and summons that damage Chocobo Knight.
Boom, enemy never gets a turn because it's easy to keep the loop going.

Deus Ex Mankind Divided. It ended up being way better than HR and the closest game to the original.

But to be fair I think a lot of the hate for the game came from the abominable ad campaign Square had for it

FF is interesting because it has more good games than bad games but Square has been a bad company making bad games for much longer than a good company. Longer dev cycles at work.
