>start thinking if i was ever in a round table discussion with the speedrunners and some other gamers, I cant claim I like the game as the speedrunner will look like way more of a fan as he actually mastered the game

Does anyone else have similar thought processes when playing vidya and going for achievements? If I'm not at least top 20 in any given level or category then I don't tell people I've played the game. I'm unworthy.

I don't speedrun games but I do try to beat them in one day if I ever revisit one. Exploiting the game's glitches and worrying about frame perfect bullshit takes the fun out of it imo.

That mindset is the reason we got Crash 4 instead of an actually fun game. Imposing challenges on yourself (deathless, best time, avoiding X) doesn't make you more of a fan, it just means you are looking for another excuse to keep playing the same game instead of moving onto other titles. You dont need to sink 5k hours into a singleplayer game.
