People pretending to care about AI art being used will go away as soon as games are not only developed faster but you also cannot tell that AI was used, which is coming faster than you think. It was only last year when AI art was easily distinguishable and now the imperfections are few to none.

Im not really even sure how people in the industry even managed to set the "approved" idea to have when it comes to AI art or AI in general. Like why the fuck would I care, as a consumer if AI was used instead of real work. Calling it "slop" or "soulless" means nothing. For example if next year Kojima got the rights to MGS and then made a brand new MGS game using AI to come after only a year or 2 of development and it looked as good as any new game, nobody would give a single fuck about AI being used. Especially if he used an AI David Hayter to voice Snake since Hayter is so old now that his Snake voice sounds off compared to MGS1.

Soon as people quit pretending to care, these types of games will become reality.
