LoTF is already objectively good. Lords of the Fallen 2 just needs to add to it by:-

>increasing the enemy variety
>expand shields abilities by allowing you to bash/ram etc with them
>add weapon skills, be they fixed or transferable like in ER
>add a few animation sets for each weapon catagory instead of just having 1 thats used by all weapons within it
>add weapon infusions so you can change which stats they scale with & what kind of damage they do
>change the lamp mechanic, it's only interesting during the first blind playthrough. Beyond that it's just an annoying gimmick that adds nothing positive to the gameplay experience.

That's it. After all the updates its in a great place and just needs changes like these to fully polish the experience.

I've replayed it more than ER because is ER is so long. Also it has so many kino drip & weapon options for STR+FTH chads, the devs didn't even try and hide their pro bias towards the paladan theme.

LOTF doesn't have level design like either of those, it's more like a bigger DaS1 with an interconnected loop and some offshoots. From the central hub you can look out and see lots of places you'll eventually reach, it's neat.

Hmmmm that good...good.
The problem is, i just dont quite believe it. DS1 level design is already so rare, not just in broader gaming but even within fromsoft itself, its why I consider DS1 a complete fluke because besides Bloodborne theyve never come close to replicating it. Not even close.

But its atleast reassuring that Ive heard multiple people say this, so Ill keep doing research, asking more people, hoping they get more specific or that this game gains some sort of resurgence, that makes people praise it indepth appreciating level design.

Yes in that it's a well interconnected singular map.
No in that the map is shit, has nothing interesting in it outside of baits for shitty lamp mode nobody asked for, and is pelleted full of shovelware enemies that consistently respawn so you can't even enjoy the parts that are visually enjoyable inside the lamp anyway.

Like everything this team does; good idea, terrible execution.

Why not? Edgy souls is a good idea. Except, they forgot to make the world behave in line with the increase of edginess.
So everything behaves like dull, melancholic Dark Souls business, but also SPIKES AND BLOOD AND MORE BLOOD AND LAVA AND LOOK AT HOW TERRIBLE THIS WORLD IS BECAUSE TORTURED FACES EVERYWHERE, which makes it feel dumb.

I was very disappointed to see the Lamp in the trailer. I think the Umbral stuff can be improved a lot but I would have preferred had they just removed it altogether. Never liked dual world mechanics.

ER is so long it's such a commitment for any normal working person. LoTF is about the same length as DaS3 which is a lot more digestible.

Also the LoTF greathammers & greatswords feel so satisfying compared to FROMs games, they feel a lot more impactful and as a big bonk enjoyer this appeals to me.

Now I might give it another go. I tried this during the first year it came out and the dual world mechanic was so annoying it made me drop the game. I remember loving how you are able and even expected to be strong in both melee and range combat. I remember the melee combat being the strongest with the most complex options of all Souls-likes besides Nioh.
