How to play Skyrim vanilly in 2025?
I want to play skyrim but i hate any changes to the base game when i play games for the first time, i want the original experience.

I just found out about the unofficial patch retardation and about not being just bug fixes.
Also know that Skyrim without any fix it's impossible to play because bethesda never fixed the game, is there a way or alternative to play this game but without the unofficial patch?

As good as morrowind is the beggining is just so hard to go through for a dopamine addled game enjoyer today. Skyrim and oblivion put you straight into the action, but Morriwind takes time to show you stuff, to introduce you to characters and lore. As good as the game is, it diesn't have the same pull for a zoomer if he doesn't first play at least skyrim.

Because TES:M is an actually good, well crafted, truly open-ended and non-handholdy ROLE-PLAYING game, where as Goyrim is literally Xbox-360-noscope "Fallout 3 but in medieval Norway!"

>There's a reason Morrowind "fans" are always talking about loreshit and never gameplay.
Correct: because lore and personal journeys are the key aspects of adventure and role-playing games, and the gameplay is very serviceable. The Skyrim x Fortnite x Elden Ring babbys just get filtered by anthing that does not handhold you through the game and give you a fancy sword to 1-shot every foe within the first 15 minutes.

The Unofficial Patch is still ultimately worth it for the other 80% of things that it does fix. You can un-autism the patch with the following:

Special Edition doesn't look at all like what Skyrim was meant to look like. Todd was afraid the rerelease wouldn't seem like an upgrade if the game's visuals were the same (the upgrade was more under the hood than anything else ie upgrading the engine from x32 to x64 which made the game far more stable and better to mod) so the entire game was made warmer with the contrast cranked up. OG Skyrim is way colder, more blue, more cold. So either play the original release or install this mod that brings the original ambience back:

NTA and no they're not, as long as you have tolerance for 90s games. They're more dungeon crawlers than anything else, but if you like TES they're worth it to at least see where things started and how many things they got right (or wrong) from the get go

In all honesty, I'd more prefer Skyrim being more moody and bleaker to truly show that the game is set in north. You know, make sky blindingly white or grey like it's winter, trees darker, grass being sand coloured and almost wilted, etc.

thats easy to just play vanilla, just keep the wiki open and when you get a new quest check out what bugs there might be for it.
theres one in the top left major city when you enter and a guy gets killed, doing it the wrong way will cause an item to forever stay in your inventory taking up weight

you could also just do the resto exploit to make great gear and finish the main story being OP

Then you'll probably enjoy them. With that said, Daggerfall is a *huge* upgrade compared with Arena which is admittedly a far more limited game in scope. The game is essentially "do dungeon so the ruler of the province tells you where the bigger dungeon is at, then do said bigger dungeon" eight times, one per province sans Cyrodiil. In-between you sell the dungeon loot and use it to buy better weapons or armor. Don't be afraid to look up dungeon maps online, because they get rather ridiculous later on and they're very much made with the "kids in the 90s have tons of free time" mentality. In fact, be it Steam or GOG, the game comes with its original strategy guide with a section for maps too.

Patch the bugs as you encounter them I guess. If you're playing on PC you can disable the DLC content whenever you want (which is how Special "Ed" Edition should have functioned) and you can resort to console commands if there's no other way. It sure doesn't feel good to use console commands, though, since it robs you of a satisfying playing experience.

I recommend using the unofficial patch. On my first playthrough of Skyrim, the thieves guild AND mages guild quests broke so horribly that I couldn't even get them back up with console commands. Other misc quests broke too. You can use the "purist's patch" which essentially reverts the unofficial patch's more liberal changes. You can get emotional about the absurdity of backpatching a bug fix patch or you can just accept it for what it is.
There are a ton of other mods that I would call "essential", if only for performance and crashes, but I'm too lazy to list them out.

iirc it's mostly targeting the intrusive gameworld changes, like redbelly and solitude trees for example, and various perk changes like necromage and fire/frenzy keyword stuff. There's a separate mod if you want the fortify restoration exploit back, I forget what it's called.

Please don't talk ike a faggot redditor, anon. The original lighting is king because it's the one intended by Bethesda in their fantasy videogame, it has nothing to do with "muh realism". Skyrim is not Cyrodiil. If they wanted the game to look like it did in SE it would've look like that half a decade prior and during its 5 years of development as well.

The unofficial patch is not necessary to play the game. Outside of a small handful of issues that can cause save file bloat (ash piles, arrows, etc) there's nothing the patch actually does that's necessary, most if not all of the reasons the patch was needed were made irrelevant when Bethesda switched the game from a 32bit.exe to a 64bit.exe.
Just play the special edition and you'll be fine.
