My proudest moment playing FFXI was out-skilling some chinese gil farmer camper bots that were sitting on leaping lizzy when I was just passing through gustaberg going back to Bastok and I just happened to see Lizzy spawn and macro provoked him and got the boots. They were worth several million gil at the time so it was a massive deal for me.

just play retail, private servers are for extreme autistic retards. That said, I have not played FFXI in almost a many years now but I think about it all the time. Last time I played was around 2018 I think and I had fun.
I mean the community is smaller and no where near what it was back in the 2000s but there's still some good players even on the shitheap that is Asura where I played.
