If you want to buy a Switch 2 and then a Switch 2 OLED you can do that. If someone doesn't want to, then waiting for better battery life isn't a bad idea because the battery will degrade over time so the base Switch 2 battery will only get worse and it's already worse than even the Switch Lite. The Switch 1 had the Mariko revision that increased battery life, so you might not even need to wait until the OLED is out if you care about portable play.

Meanwhile you can grab a used Switch OLED instead if you only care about Switch 1 games right now. If someone isn't picking up MKW or Bananza with their Switch 2 then it's an actual consideration. For someone that cares about new games and doesn't care about portable mode, then the Switch 2 is a no brainer. It's not an actual 100% upgrade though, depending on your use case the OLED Switch could legitimately be better(Playing old games in handheld mode).

not even that since Switch saves are stored on Switch drive not the SD card. Also Switch has a transfer function that let you transfer save data from Switch 1 to 2. The only shit here is that it removes the data from the old system so it's faster and better to do that with NSO since with it you can just download the last backup at the moment you'll start the game on the new system.
