I don't want to sound like a pseud, but it's due to the fact most of it is rather juvenile like >>718679207 said, and with vidya, gameplay should usually come first. Stories in games feel more like a story you'd see in a theme park ride to create immersion. It's absolutely fine, but I can't personally take it very seriously for this reason.
