Why did Kratos simply not say to Zoos than he can chose to be a better man? Was he stupid?

Kratos did a lot of shitty things in his life in his anger and pursuit of revenge. Killing Zeus wasn't one of them, Zeus is the ultimate dick.

Yes, Kratos in the old games genuinely does come off as kind of dumb/shortsighted

I liked it when it was just Zeus being a dick. Then GoW III made it so the Gods became bigger dicks than usually because Kratos because Pandora's box was opened, which calls into question how much of the God's actions from post 1 are even their own. Hell, one of Zeus' unused lines is asking Kratos to kill him.

Zeus was always terribad. Just read RL Greek mythology to see the extent of his dickiness. If anything, the evil's from Pandora's box only exacerbated his existing bad traits.

I know Zeus was terrible period. But the evils made the Gods crazier than usual. Athena herself was one of the kinder Gods when shown in 1 and 2, but turned into a massive by 3's ending.

If Kratos were really as braindead as you assume, he wouldn't have been such an awesome puzzle solver. He's also great in Ascension because it's him at his least asshole, but still feels undeniably Kratos.

Remember how journos said that GoW 2018 is finally the mature game and when pushed they admitted "I only played the GoW 3 demo once"? I hate how the first game especially was memoryholed as le angry man goomba stomps everything in his way.
