Playing the first one again and have no idea what weapon is useful. They all seem like they're missing something. So far the only one that doesn't feel terrible is dual katana but that still lacks range.

If you've been playing Nioh 2 that's normal. Every weapon got extra moves so going back when you've gotten used to the additions will give that sensation.
All the weapons are good and perfectly useable. I personally find 1Kat, Kusa, Tonfa and Odachi to be the most enjoyable, but they're all just good.

I'm actually just getting back into Nioh 1 and I was revising and fixing up my old builds. I was wondering if inheriting the gloves' Attack +x bonus is that noticeable towards your damage output, since at its highest roll it's about 55pts a piece and your weapons get attack ratings that easily dwarf the bonus. I'm also just having a hard time letting go of inheritable Running Speed on the rest of the gear since running as fast as a sprint by default is too enjoyable

open-world time wasting slop, 50% of weapons locked to Ninja Style which doesn't have weapon stances and humanoid enemies are much less aggressive and don't attack you anymore when they outnumber you like they do in Nioh 1 and Nioh 2, their AI got casualized, intentionally.

Then we have the alpha feedback report:

- Adjust gimmicks and enemies that were unreasonably difficult.
- Make the motions for using Elixirs faster.
- Make highly requested adjustments while maintaining the tension of encounters with formidable enemies. (they are lying here, highly requested means dumbing it down, tension won't be maintained, it will be reduced)
- Make adjustments to the performance of some overpowered enemies.
- Reduce the HP for some overpowered enemies.
- Reduce the target tracking abilities of enemies to make it possible to flee from them.
- Improve replayability by making it possible for players to fully recover from Life Corrosion when their Guardian Spirits return to their side.
- Make it possible to recover from Life Corrosion by using Elixirs via the effects of Jizo Blessings.
- Decrease the speed of Scampusses just after they have moved.

I sure love easy games, thanks team ninja for ruining the nioh franchise and making it just another trash franchise in a sea of garbage.

I am not buying this garbage, nor will I buy any future games by team ninja, sell out pussies.

Any nerfs are only going to affect NG which is the fake game anyway. Some other things like the open world and ninja style might be problems (or not, we'll see how they're implemented in the full game) but I distinctly remember people talking about yokai abilities and burst counters RUINING Nioh 2 and casualizing it into oblivion during the beta threads, so I can't take that stuff seriously here.

Even if it made ki management easier (debatable given flux already existing and the new dark realm) it upped the skill ceiling and made the game way more fun. I haven't played the demo but people were saying yokai abilities are consumables now too so in theory doesn't that make the game harder then? I hope there's a way to build for them to play like 2 tho.

I wonder. I get the feeling that they want to give each Nioh its own identity, what with 1 having Living Weapon, 2 Yokai Shift and Abilities and now 3 having Ninja Mode. Could be that ninja mode was a deliberate move to separate 3 from the shiftling gameplay

I'm finding Night Rain much more combersome to use than Iai Quickdraw. While it comes off faster than a fully charged quickdraw, the iai covers more distance, which allows you to space yourself so that you're out of range of an enemy attack and can retaliate safely in their recovery Night Reign's short range makes it far more high commital and makes you much more vulnerable as a result. There's also the fact that the multi-hit property picks up enemies, making them able to hit back sooner.
I get that it's good for inflicting ailments but I wonder if it is all that good

I've been playing Nioh since the very first alpha of 1 and continued to play all the alpha, beta, and last chance trials since then. I was in those very first threads where they started that pasta and yes I got all the marks for beating the demos. I was skeptical about some of the changes 3 had when they announced it but after playing the alpha myself, I can fully confirm that it's still Nioh. I can't agree with all that whiny nitpicking above, we do this dance every time they give their feedback reports. The final difficulties are always fine enough for the first cycle and then they give the harder stuff in the expansions and later difficulties.

My only complaint with Nioh is that some weapons are more fun right out of the box than others. Odachi and sword? Pretty straight forward to use with basic kits that work well by themselves. Hatchets? Your heavy attacks are kind of crap and slow, your throws are your heavy hitters but are also fairly slow, and all your attacks use just a little more ki than you'd expect them to. end of NG hatchets? Hilariously obnoxious troll weapon that can effectively keep enemies from ever touching you with plenty of throws to keep them pinned down, destroy ki, or add additional pressure. It's a night and day difference.
Anonymous No.718716501
>>718716089
I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing, some being more technical and less straightforward than others helps make each weapon feel more different. In Nioh 1 Odachi pretty much felt like a katana with combo extensions on strong attacks and no parries

It's been a good while since I played it, so I can't be too technical, but I felt like Iai and the parries were the strongest kat moves and what separated it from others. Specially the parries and combos relating to it. That one move where you slash your way to your enemy's back was also pretty great
In 2, 2kat had better (or equivalent) parries and a better Iai. The slash movement is there, but wasn't as good.
The special techniques you get from the bosses are also pretty cool, but very underwhelming

None of it. People who didn't learn how to play the game went into the DLC and got mad it actually continued to increase challenge from that point naturally. Right, I was just giving those as random examples without really thinking them through. IIRC there's already a sloth on ninjutsu hit effect ingame.
But I honestly had more fun looking for weird stuff than to optimise an one shot build. I get that there's an appeal to some but I find the unique playstyles the nonoptimal effects open up to be much more interesting.
>>718723207
Like the other anon says, just jump right onto the DLC. It's what I did and did just fine. Way of the Strong isn't a big jump in difficulty anyway and you're likely to be steamrolling most of it with your endgame William. Main thing WotStrong gives you is divine gear and the Yasakani Magatama, and while that opens the door to a lot of buildcrafting since armor now gains inheritables, it's not something so vital that you absolutely need to stand a chance in the DLC, though.
That said, if you're already doing Strong do grab a Yasakani if you don't have one already, since its Set Bonus -1 effect is really handy. You can farm it off any mission that drops divine accessories, like A Request from Ginchiyo or The Demon's Daughter.

Get enough Spirit for Guardian Spirit effects and to wear the armour you have, then either balance stats or focus on Body and Stamina, while also increasing Dexterity and Magic to 30 at most for the equip capacity limit. What matters significantly more in the first run is learning the mechanics and what tools you have, but being able to survive facilitates that, and damage scaling is practically non-existent so stats are useful for their actual effects of which Stamina is the best.

I enjoy Souls as much as anyone else but I find it sad that it leads to this kind of behaviour. I don't what exactly it is that causes it, but it definitely feels like a pattern. They'll refuse to delve into the battle system, will stick to only one stance and sometimes only one type of attack within it and get through the game like that, only to turn around and say that everything else is bloat and unnecessary.
Why?

Yes, while it is a core mechanic for opening enemies up it still has several other fun mechanics and a wide moveset to make use of, there's much more variety backing it up.

>Well, except for fighting Maria, but she's a horrid cunt anyway
What do you dislike about Maria's fight? She's fun as fuck

It's been a good while, but she just felt impossible .
Masamune was a huge shock but it just felt like I needed to up my ante and defeating him felt great
Maria was hyper fast in dodging and attacking and seemed incredibly cheap both close and long range.
Killing her just made me realize I developed a headache

Souls let you feel like you're good at games for having basic competency so they attract a lot of troglodytes. I likes the games too but I can't play them anymore without some kind of self imposed challenge, as is they're kinda dull to replay.

People learned every possible wrong lesson they could from Souls, it's the worst possible outcome of casuals with high ego meeting a punishing game with basic core mechanics but with large variety. Somehow they managed to turn learning more about a game into a bad thing at every stage of a game that emphasizes embracing challenge, all to try and prop themselves up while engaging in the most shameless projection fuelled crashouts if they lose or see someone doing better than them and bitterly trying to tear down anyone they think is worse. They didn't git gud, they seethed and coped.

because git gud mentality completely poisoned the well especially when From started leaning into the 'le Souls so hard' bullshit when all they were asking for was a basic level of understanding, everyone became convinced that beating a game with a pre-approved basic fucking sword and maybe a shield and literally nothing else was the only way it 'counts', that or they don't bother branching out from what works because they're scared of actually interacting with the battle system and it beating their fucking ass, there's a reason soulsfags walk into Nioh and immediately start getting hard filtered because they expect the exact same thing again and get mad when the game starts asking you to actually engage with its mechanics

because most people are sub 120iq and even then the gamers that are above 120iq dont have the savoir faire for complicated controls like rocket league, playing piano, and of course nioh. you dont have to break your fingers playing chess but you do need to be smart. i call it Tyler1 syndrome and i call people who have t1 syndrome Asmongoloids. this is why asmon beat elden ring dlc "off stream", since it took him over a year to do it.
