Gex's games are actually pretty solid, especially the first one.
Bubsy's games are all largely pretty bad but the fact that Atari keeps shipping him out to random indie devs gives him a sort of underdog charm.

It's more that they don't hate them like Millennials do. They don't share the "traumatic experience" of being gifted a dogshit Bubsy game for Christmas and have that event define their view of the character. To them, it's just a furry mascot infamous for being attached to awful games, which, ironically, makes him more interesting.
