Yeah, the original version has the best plot of the 3D pokemon games, such that they had to dumb it down in subsequent versions. The only issue is that the story is pushed on you fairly often which can hurt replays a bit since you've already seen it, but as a first experience it's top notch

Sun and Moon was definitely the best era for the anime if nothing else, felt like the first time the staff were really having fun with it. If you only watch the major battle episodes I can see why you'd prefer DP or XY since SM's are on the weaker side but the actual slice of life stuff that makes up the bulk of the shows was top notch.

I dropped the series after how mediocre this game was. Too linear, too easy, boring story outside of some one liners, and level design doesn't encourage you to explore it.
The only good things are that the girls are insane fap bait, cool pokemon designs, and the artstyle is very pretty and anime-esque.

My experience with gen 2 and 4 is that I use multiple pokemon, use whatever pokemon looked cool, had a full party, and grinded/use potions for gyms & elite 4, with tons of black outs on said gyms. In S&M I throw out any Pokemon I like either blow up the enemy or if it's not doing enough damage I switch to another pokemon almost risk free and then blow it up. No potions/full restore, and my pokemon are strong enough to wait for the next pokemon center.

I'm not lying, this is my genuine experience. S&M genuinely did not put up a challenge for me compared to previous gens. I got slapped around by Elesa's Zebstrika and the elite 4 in BW2. It took me multiple tries to beat Kalos' elite 4. Witney rolled out in Crystal, and it also took me several tries for the elite 4. S&M I nuked everyone and forgot it in 12 hours, it's 100% fucking easier and it allows me to play like a retard.
