Also, the game makes no attempt to actually deliver on its promise. You play as the Opposing Force, the bad guys, the HECU, but conveniently your Osprey was shot down before you got your orders to silence the staff, and even more conveniently you get rescued by some scientists that miraculously never got the memo that the HECU is evil because of how secluded they are (even though seeing one play with a Headcrab doesn't bode well for their intelligence). OK, fine, have it be a case of Adrian realizing the evilness of his pals' handiwork. Except nope, at no point do HECU and scientists meet as NPCs, Adrian only gets a bit of reprimand from one or two staff in the entire game who don't even bother to attack him, and you only see ONE case of an HECU scientist interaction as a cutscene where the scientist isn't even attacked, he's just pushed by the soldier into a closet until he tells him where Freeman is. Not once is there a showcase of the HECU's moral issues, it's glossed over as it becomes an innocent faction in Black Mesa stuck having to survive the NEW evil soldiers, the Black Ops. It's lame as fuck and goes against the basic premise of Half-Life as a story
