I'm 40 years old, retired, and a serial hobbyist primarily focused on games and software. I understand that the world (and Nintendo) has passed me by and I'm not the target audience for games anymore. Most people my age are raising kids, working like slaves, and just too distracted to dive into their passions.

With that said, I find that the Zelda series is the perfect example of a franchise leaving its forefans behind. Breath of the Wild was a fun experience but patently not a Zelda game, Totk even less so. Echoes of Wisdom and LA Remake are literally for babies. Now I feel like I can only play LTTP to Wind Waker if I want to play a Zelda or even a Zelda style game.

I guess my point is that you will age out, your interests will die, and its up to you (or people your age I guess) to keep the art and genres you love alive. That's why I'm creating an LTTP clone with some inspiration from Tunic in order to keep the genre alive even if Nintendo won't.

based. I feel the same as you when it comes to the Zelda franchise, and honestly after the success of the Switch games I don't see Nintendo going back to the old formula we know and love. Just like you I'm also making a game inspired by Zelda, hope to see yours being posted around sometime soon.

About what you say about a lack of originality: yeah I know and agree, my game won't be very original, but please understand that when you are a solo developer being passionate about what you are doing is way more important than working on an original idea, since that passion is what will carry you through the long process that's making a game.
