I'm probably overthinking it, but I always thought of those old ass paintings that would develop a yellowing varnish from age.

Human Revolution always had the Italian Renaissance as a major art motif, so I imagined they took the varnish color from real paintings and made the piss filter we have come to enjoy.

It's because everything in DX was blue and everything in IW was purple so they wanted a different color for HR to contrast though colors.
