Watch it again. Even though it’s a show centered around teen angst, the way it handles psychology is easier to parse when you’re older and understand people better than Shinji does. The most interesting part of the show is the web of relationships, and how they all fail to communicate.

I finally watched this shit and the final episodes being Shinji just talking to himself like a fucking schizo for an hour before the show just ends abruptly was retarded.

Evangelion was the first anime I watched and it was fuckin awful. Made me think all anime was that bad, thankfully I was able to watch something actually good and clear that idea from my mind

Anno is one of the most cinematically gifted directors in the world and was unafraid of making something about his raw, unfiltered experience with loneliness. This, I was told it was a masterpiece. Watched it. It's mostly just shinji sperging out and being a bitch, then it has a dumbfuck ending. I researched why it had such a dumbfuck ending and apparently the creators ran out of time/money so they just mashed something together. Literally this is why the ending is the way it is. There was no thought put into it.
This and melancholy of haruhi suzamiya so fucking overrated.

i prefer the sadamoto manga, i think it's the better story, anime felt too unfinished for my taste.
