No creative leadership.
Kitase + Nomura have stumbled a lot, but their enduring stewardship over mainline FF is evident in the series' consistent meticulousness. Tone, scale, quality etc.; these rarely falter in a mainline FF (16 and the MMOs are spinoffs, not mainline).
Modern studios have such high churn that only the most surface features are preserved between a series' entries.
It also doesn't help that DEI in the 2010s both homogenized concepts, which were designed and implemented by incompetent hires.

Realism. FFX looks good because it's a fantastical setting with not just good graphics but good art direction and good set design. Nowadays games have photorealistic graphics but it's just the woods behind the dev studio.

Whats funny is back in the day, none of us considered this a visually appealing game. The character designs were retarded, the backgrounds were dated, the cgi cutscenes were considered uncanny at best, and the in game cutscenes use better models for the characters than the rest of the game its basically cheating

The last time I actually purchased (I don't pirate/emulate) and played a video game was Monster Hunter 3U for the Wii U and Xenoblade Chronicles X. Love MH Tri's soundtrack, and ironically, while I loved XCX, 90% of its sountrack is annoying rock.

Sorry; to answer your question, no. I take it you're recommending it to me? I'll look it up on youtube right now, sure. I like light-jazz, soft, comfortable bgm more than anything, but I can get down to some late 00s trance/house beats, too.

The soundtrack is perfectly divided in two, it had two music producers, half of the tracks are more energetic rock? (idk how really to describe music genres accurately) and the other half are more orchestrated.

I YouTube'd the ost, and I'm currently on track 3 (out of 118...).
It is, indeed, very orchestral, but that's been very nice background music so far. Nothing remarkable, but enjoyable! I'm barely any way through what I imagine will be about 4-5 hours of music at least, so I'll keep my hopes up for more brilliant tracks.

Guys, I thoroughly enjoyed Xenosaga back when it came out. Music was comparably generic and orchestral, but hey.
True, it's not a spectacularly "fun" video game, but whatever its themes and setting (and sexy robots), it strike a nice chord with me.

when is the last game that felt impressive to experience on a system? even cutscenes, so just not what could be pulled off in real time, just the strongest, raw "wow" you had.
for me it really was ffx. the cutscenes and summons and music had such an effect of "i can't believe this is coming from my video game console" that its still source of the majority of my favorite ps2 and gaming memories.
this didn't happen to me with anything on pc, didn't happen with halo, any xbox 360 or ps3 game besides maybe eternal sonata for personal reasons, but not fidelity or technological reasons.
i suspect a lot of people will say bioshock or asscreed, but i draw a blank imagining anything else as an answer.
