Brings back memories of what a house was. What building a house might be. What having a family would be. That it was affordable.

Personally? No.
But, I would like equivalent amounts for every member of my family if I ever get one...

My home is just a storage zone that is <70Β°F where I lounge on a couch, shower in a hygenic space, cook in a reasonable kitchen, park my car, and sleep in the quietest/darkest room. My "fun" can be traveling and yardwork. True, a larger family means making concessions, but I can do that if my family are equally feasible to me. And my standards are high. My greed is not.

Men mostly enjoyed building, but designing purchases/characters was fun, too. Especially with the 10/10 masterpiece comfortable ten musical tracks always playing in the background.

Women liked playing the social part of the game, more. Telling characters what to do, more than building the homes. I know this. I had an older sister who "played The Sims" by actually having characters appear and interact, whereas my father and I just built homes.

I never played anything past Sims 2 (and none of the add-ons), so I'm guessing I've never heard this track, but since you suggested it by participating in this nice thread and contributing a direct a link to music (a form of media I adore), I'll give it a listen right now.
>Listening
Oh, I think I have heard this track, actually.
Anyway, nice choice. Lite-jazz is among my favorite genres on planet Earth. You're a good man for enjoying that with me.
I suggest you give "Beyond the Mind's Eye" orchestrated by Jan Hammer a listen-to. It's from this time-period, beautiful watch, and perhaps among the most mesmerizing musical pieces you'll hear.

Same. She usually asked me to "make this part, please" so I did, she said "thanks."

I'm always amused by hearing other people's family life or relationships with their siblings because, for me as a tall blond white guy from a religiously traditional family in the West with parents that met in school, married at graduation and loved each other to immediately begin raising their own kids... I hear more and more about how rare that was. Especially because, for as "typical" that may sound, my relationship with them is very honest but also fairly non-existent. What I mentioned above with my sister is, honestly, about as much interaction I ever had with her in the years of childhood together. Same as my mother and father. Just, quiet. I loved that and them. That was more than 20 years ago.

To the average normalfag woman The Sims is basically the perfect roleplaying game for living out domestic fantasies. 3 and 4 especially since they have more roleplaying and self-insert elements. It's basically like digital barbie dolls to them, they make a self-insert, recreate their boyfriends, and build their dream house.

On the other hand I think most men see The Sims as more like a sandbox or simulation game. We just want to mess around trying to build creative or optimal homes and families and see what happens when the game unpauses. And the market for men who enjoy simulation games is pretty small, especially compared to how many woman play digital barbie dolls, which makes The Sims seem like a woman series.

And don't get me wrong, they definitely market these games more towards women.

I haven't played sims since early Sims 3, probably had the most fun with 2. I remember that their site had a section you could download mods pretty easily, I would often get edited furniture or sims based off celebrities

I remember this type of music was everywhere back then. When I was a kid I'd get up early and watch a news segment that showed live camera feeds from various parts of the country that had some ambient jazz in the background. It was so fucking comfy seeing the foggy landscape with those smooth sounds.

You're speaking about having cable television and EVERYONE turning on The Weather Channel for their daily forecast, which would play as "Local on the 8s" with an ambient light-jazz musical track playing. Or Christmas holiday songs if it was December.

Playing Sims 1 is rather grindy. You need a decent amount of money if you think about renovating or adding new rooms.

We had cheats codes. I wasn't afraid to use "rosebud" as many times as possible to just keep building homes.

So did I. It was the only way I played the game back when it was new. So I am playing it 'properly' now.

the 3 arrows fast forward basically ruins the game for me. I become addicted to using it and then I screw up and miss stuff because of it.
