how are you guys gonna try to convince your non-fg friends to play a 4v4 tag fighter on launch while they avoid getting distracted by big dick GTA6 the same year? or rather, what can arcsys do in case they do? i hope arcsys announces a co-op mode so dudes can queue up like Rivals and don't get mindbroken playing solo ranked and drop the game...

I really hope there will be a good single player mode with things to do for casual players. I enjoy fighters but I'm too old and can't be bothered to compete against the sweats online.

it helps to not think about tryharding when you realize you truly love a specific fighting game. winning and losing then has less black-and-white meaning and you just learn to enjoy the battle in the moment and cherish the gameplay if that makes sense.

I don‘t play fighting games but from what i‘ve heard it sounds like this game is more of a 1v1 game with 3 assists which shouldn‘t be too overwhelming

It does yes, but inevitably it gets shitty that you keep losing, and this is a genre where stray wins like lucky headshots where you catch someone offguard or a team carries you just don't happen. And I don't have what it takes to git gud agains the online sweats, and after a while it's shit to be sandbagging against them, but yeah it could be fun for a while.

Won't be as chaotic as MVC due to the assists having longer cooldowns and shared life bar. Will still filter people new to fighters because of fundamentals taking too long to click for most.

this. The social aspect will be matching with randos in ranked. Over the course of DBfZ I made like 3 psn friends who I'd play with. They got pretty good. I think I stagnated a bit. There are discord groups to find matches nowadays.
Many friends IRL are too prideful and wrathful and envious to play fighting games with half the time, genuinely tweaking sore losers. Plus theyre often just not that interested in the genre and that is completely fair. I give em props for usually wanting to check out the new stuff on a casual level tho and try out some characters when the game launchs.

a game like this is a solo endeavor where youll want to keep getting better. I went to a convention where they had DBFZ set up and sat down with cool black people on 2 different occasions and played with them for a while.

all of this to say >>718715460 (OP) this game is gonna be plenty popular and there will be lots of opponents at every skill level. Just don't expect the game to really fill your social batteries or be a big normie friendgroup thing. They will certainly want to try it at least once casually, everybody likes at least one Marvel hero and the artsyle has a nu-japanesey appeal
let it ride OP don't worry about what other people think

it does have active tag but with a gradual unlocking mechanic so new players shouldn't feel overwhelmed, but the other mechanics that cost bar might be confusing to them.

that's why skill based matchmaking is important in any comp vidya so the one sided washing doesn't take place in ranked. but if you love a fg you'll keep coming back to hit buttons
>genre where stray wins like lucky headshots where you catch someone offguard or a team carries you just don't happen
team carries can happen if arc does implement co-op like in DBFZ. and so im with the idea that devs come up with new modes/ways to retain a playerbase. stuff like XP systems are always welcome for example

>fundamentals
There’s your problem
Here are fundamentals
>block
>dont jump in like a mad man
>time your meter usage when you know you can pull it off
Done
All this bullshit about “muh 223lp outframes your 1x>>t5 by 0.0003!!! I Winn!!!!!!!”
That shit ruins games

the zoomers will be retained because of the anime aesthetic
the boomers will be retained because of the western capekino
the gen alphers will be retained because of shiny new bideo game with controls that couldn't filter you if you tried
it's genius. Sony, ArcSys and Marvel are certified mad lads for coming up with this game. I still want MvC4 tho

None of my friends care about GTA.
