I've played RDR2 before RDR1 and somehow think RDR1 is significantly better, for reasons hard to explain.. unique charm I guess.. .. not to mention the fact that John Marston is the coolest videogame protagonist of all times and Arthur is an afraid crying ass redneck retard

I feel ya, I still like booting up RDR1 to do some bounty hunts, then play Blackjack or Liar's Dice at the bar until the next bounty is posted. It really nailed the spaghetti western feel

RDR is classic western, RDR2 is might as well be a GTA game in a cowboy costume with how every character acts, I never once got the feeling that any of the main characters were actually born in the 19th century

What went so bad with rdr2?

Had the grit and charm of wild west film protagonist of yesteryear. When I look at Arthur Morgan, I don't feel that aura. Everytime I see cutscene with him appearing, it looks like what if the redditors made their ideal protagonist in the wild west. The sequel had high production value and potential to capture the grittiness of wild west on the surface but the staff all went in hard to pander to the current year audiences.

Too much minutiae brings down the experience. Sometimes games should just be games. Rdr1 is a good game. Rdr2 is a boring simulator. Most games these days are like this.

Yeah, this was a pretty gay thing to do. There were some other retarded things sprinkled in, like Marston agreeing with Bonny that women should be running everything, but this takes the cake. No one wants to play as an emasculated cuck.
Tbh the story is pretty mediocre. The best part about the game is being able to roleplay as a cowboy, roaming the wild, hunting down bounties, coming back to town at night to play blackjack or poker.
