Any new Crash Bandicoot game that looks less impressive than N Sane or Crash 4 is going to meet automatic scorn

Atari isn't actually the ones making Bubsy 4D, they either enlisted a small indie studio and gave them a modest budget to make a new Bubsy game or said studio approached them.

How many of those studios would actually WANT to make a new Earthworm Jim game and wouldn't just prioritize something else like an original project where they can reap the full rewards?

1. Beat-em-ups are less complicated to make than 3D platformers. There are more studios that can release a sprite based beat-em-up throwback in a faster time than say, a studio releasing a 3D platformer.
2. The new Scott Pilgrim and Marvel beat-em-up are both handled by the same studio that did Shredder's Revenge
3. Those games as part of this revival aren't necessarily "good"

Shadow Generations is the one GOOD game Sonic Team has made in 14 years, bit of an unfair comparison and an anomaly all things considered. Bubsy 4D looks decent at best, which puts it above everything Sonic has put out from after Generations to maybe before Frontiers, completely excluding Mania for obvious reasons. It's not gonna be a worse game than Rise of Lyric or Forces, that's for damn sure

I don't like his new design. Bubsy's original design had the Banjo Kazooie look where its a furry character but not designed by and for furries so it ends up being a decent neutral design.

Bubsy now looks like he was made better looking to grab the furry crowd.

I unironically feel like no one actually hates Bubsy (except maybe the kids who grew up with something like Bubsy 3D) because he's just not really ever been worth the time and energy to hate. It's more so that people are apathetic towards his existence, which is why it's no surprise that he comes back every couple of years trying something new. This is the first time ever however that instead of just shitting something out and calling it a day, they got a dedicated team that actually seems to be trying to do a good job and put the effort in.
