Nintendo basically sacrificed the Wii U's entire first year to get everyone to pump out 3DS games to get people buying the thing.

Oldfag here who brought the console on release month.
Ghost recon was developed by some xcom devs and its pretty good but yeah the rest is trash.
The first year was a graveyard of no releases and then they chopped the price, pretty much everyone shat on at the time except for the people who were exited to play sf4 at 30fps.

Nintendo consoles always have god awful launch line ups.

And two new Rockstar games, 3 new Fromsoft games, a new Street Fighter, a new Tekken, Time Splitters, what's your point? If a console had a library like that after 8 years you zoomers would consider it the winner of a generation, but it was the launch, not the entire generation.

The only 3DS game I had for like the firsf 6 months of owning it was Samurai Warriors Chronicles.
3D Land and Mario Kart 7 came out at Christmas time but before that the lineup wasn't great

Yea, but this is the sort of launch that kills your console period, especially given the vita was around at the time as well and would’ve easily filled in as the defacto handheld, it should’ve turned off everyone from it so clearly it didn’t get shat on nearly enough. You honestly think cutting the price, making it up to those who paid extra, and releasing some actual games would bring back customers just like that?
