a lot of animated series get greenlit for 2 seasons and what usually ends up happening is that they use all their budget to animate 1 season and split it in half
it's like a super common practice that tricks people into thinking a show is more successful than it is, season 1 is only 8 episodes.
You can tell it was done with this one because it's coming out not too far off from the 1st season of the show.

OP... you do know that most anime or cartoon productions already green light 2 seasons because of how long it takes to make them. The 2nd season was already set in the contract. They just didn't announce it yet. You really think they just started production of a 2nd season after the 1st released back in April this year? The buy episodes in batches. Netflix probably being more notorious where they sometimes even break up those batch of episodes bought and split them into multiple seasons.
