How do I get back into Elite Dangerous after having not played it for years?

I remember during covid I was playing this like crazy, my best memory is taking my fully kitted Asp on an exploration mission in VR that took me like 3 days there and back. It was super cool having my ship slowly beat up by non optimal fuel scoops, looking into the core of the galaxy from the edge and seeing all the stars clustered together and finding planets nobody has seen before.
My worst memory is going into open to play with my friend and getting camped by some absolute faggot who was killing anyone inside the station on landing pads
Anyone else pissed that they removed the regular news stories? I always looked forward to them but then they were too lazy to even write weekly one pagers that a TTS read out. This game has so much wasted potential its insane.
