Genuinely, what the fuck were they thinking? Sakurai literally told them that it was a stupid idea to make both Kirby riders and MK simultaneously and they told him to do it anyway.

He could have and would have made anything else had they not requested it.

Listen, I loved the original Kirby Air Ride - but let's be real. Other than City Trial, it was a far worse racing game than any Mario Kart. If Mario Kart is for 7 year olds, Air Ride was for 3/4 year olds. There are tracks where you can leave down your control, and not input anything - and win the race in first place.

In order for Air Riders to work it's going to need a metric shitton of content to stand on its own.
