But I am getting a bit fatigued at the sheer volume of dad-coded video games in the past decade.

It is genuinely impossible to square the Mario/DK canon entries when Odyssey and Bananza both establish arcade DK as a prequel unless you wanna do asspull alternate timelines/rectons/multiverse/time travelling. She's not Mario's daughter (although her design/mannerisms are heavily inspired by him). "Characters in a play" doesn't explain Pauline somehow going from the same age as Mario to a teenager back to an adult or throwing a festival celebrating the defeat of her rescuer. You can ridicule me, call it headcanon cope, whatever, Nintendo's answer is inconsistent with the games.

There's one thing at play that most people never bring up
Cranky being the original DK from the arcade game is entirely Rare headcanon that was never actually included in a nintendo approved game, only surrounding materials like instruction booklets
Similarly, him bringing up a "rival in overalls" in Bananza is only present in the English localization
This means that all references to the arcade game can be interpreted as meta nostalgia throwback references not relevant to any sort of overarching story

Take a a step back and think with a clear head, this lore and timeline shit is pure autism, Mario is not a story, it's a brand and characters appear in a way that serves a standalone game they make, instead of a larger narrative.
Zelda does have that as it has more focus on the story, and the title is literally called "legend of Zelda", Mario is not going to have that, and he will never impregnate anyone to give birth to a child to continue the status quo of the brand.
This lore shit is retarded as "Mario tennis or kart is actually in the final part of the timeline because there's no way that Mario and Bowser would physically fight with each other after participating in a friendly competition".

I love having a character there to shout out the obvious and explain how I'm supposed to be feeling about every scene, how else would my retarded stupid ass be able to figure anything out?
