i know op is bait but that aside
>16k players a decade after release on a singleplayer game
>very near its peak because of silksong announcement
>literally outsold metroid franchise
the ammount of money theyre getting from this must be insane, even at that cheap price

Assuming the worst case scenario where they only get like 4 dollars on average per steam sale, that would be about 80 million dollars. Without factoring
>other platforms
>merch
>the fact theyre probably paid to have their shit show up on events

>15 million
Probably more. Compare the steam reviews to back when they said it sold 2.8 million copies. The review count has went up by about 10x since then, and it has been released on more platforms and gotten more popular there afterwards. They unironically sold at least 30 million

I also think the numbers don't match, but they said 15 million in the interviews yesterday. Maybe they hadn't checked in a long time

Bait thread but let's talk about Hollow Knight since all there is currently is threads hating on the original or talking about Silksong. What's your favorite boss to fight in the first game?

You might have noticed by now that the core community that shaped gaming for 20+ years now isn't even 5% of the current one, but it doesn't matter to the normgroid cattle that just keeps on following trends because execs know what sells and what doesn't.
Shoving in sequels or remakes of beloved games will get you a 10x in sales simply because the cattle will buy it regardless of quality.

nightmare king grimm
broken vessel (dream version)
not a boss but I love doing the path of pain so much, it's fluid and tight while still having room for error

What the hell does this have to do with Silksong? Silksong was a kickstarter goal dlc for HK that they decided to just make its own game instead. There was no big business involved in this decision

I played Hollow Knight on PS4 since it was on PS Plus and it's connected to a big TV. I also bought the game on Steam but never played it there.

The Mantis guys. Kinda hard but not really since the patterns are very easy to learn. So it becomes a matter of pure precision and not making mistakes.

a lot of amazing ones
>pure vessel
>soul tyrant
>hornet 2
>failed champion
Overall HK has my favorite bossfights out of any adventurey melee sidescroller game, or perhaps them all in general. When i play the rest of the genre i feel like the bosses are always a bit too stiff and the responses vs their moves are stale. HK is cool and dynamic, theres a lot of crazy shit you can do with the basic moves like pogoing twice vs ST's double feint, or landing shade soul multihits vs pure vessel. Theres a lot more depth to actually responding to enemy attacks

The closest competitor is nine sols, with the caveat of it being a game where positioning isnt a big deal and hitboxes dont really matter

>Can't be bothered getting there again.

I should just play through this game once. Too long.
