I'm playing through without using outlets, only batteries and chargers. It's... great. Lots of an heroing, because it's easier than waiting for hunger.

Been meaning to put down garden plots for ages to grow food for soups, but I just can't decide on a permanent spot for a base that's close to water and won't get attacked. I'm thinking once I get to hydro I'll probably set up around the sub, though that's definitely a bit out of the way.

Theres a room above the blacksmith that you need a levekl 2 keykard to get into. Theres nothing in it, but its kinda spacious and close to a water source. No enemies spawn in it and it requires ladder climbing to reach so I dont think enemies could get up there if they had a mind to.

You could also just rock the gypsy life using a cart/forklift as your base. Drag it around with you everywhere and set up camp when you need to.

Yeah, obviously, there's a big wall and a door you have to open from the other side. You're basically trying to skip 80% of that reactor, which isn't impossible btw.
The intended way is to enter from the left of the reactor and eventually get to the structure in front of the turret where there's a path with obstacles to shield you from it.

You can use the arms to make biometric arm wraps, a shitty gimmick required to use any firearm aside from pistols (Until they're upgraded, which removes the locks on them). The brains give you an XP boost or whatever if you just eat them raw.
I dunno if skulls do anything, but I killed a robot and it dropped one one time which was fucked up.

Eating the brain raw gives you a buff to XP gain, at the cost of getting sick. As skulls, you can bleach them for decoration. The arms are only used to make the biometric arm wraps. Otherwise, you just salvage them both for bioscrap.

I don't think the crafting benches ensure no spawns. It only slows them down by a lot. I made a base at that aquarium place in the labs that most people put their base in and still sometimes got a soldier and a rat spawning downstairs. The discussion and posting around this is exactly the same as a few dozen titles I have observed in the last few years.
To cut through a few paragraphs of details and get to the point: The same marketing groupbis being paid to push a lot of vaguely "indie/coop/pixel" games, with a heavy emphasis on FOTM games that need population and buzz quickly.

The big corporations share a different group I have also identified that behaves much differently, but they also use their own outfits and a couple of generics.

In this case though its quite fascinating to something so fake get erected the same way by the same individuals with just a different logo slapped on.

The amount of money this kind of marketing has saved me and lost these companies is now somewhere in the $20,000-$35,000 range.

Reasonably well. Instead of a large open world, you have a relatively large closed facility map. You can still build anywhere, but you need to worry about proximity to power sources and respawning enemies.
>I don't look too kindly on addition of literal shit mechanics and hunger killing you.

Its extremely hard to die from hunger unless you are completely retarded, on the contrary you will probably have too much food and won't know what the fuck to do with it.

as for shitting, it can't kill you and as long as you take a dump before leaving your base to explore is a non issue, the worst it can happen is you shit yourself and get a debuff that does pretty much nothing and you can remove it by washing yourself with any water around

The game is considerably easy, not even considering cheesing things with buildables and the like, there are a lot of options but its a really forgiving game so they are not all that important

as far as solo play goes, the only options you will probably want to mess with is setting the stack sizes higher, i would recommend lowering enemy hp to minimun (which is 80%) and boosting their damage by 20% - 40% so the enemies will be a little less spongy and more threatening

The combat heavy areas are definitely more of a slog but honestly not that bad with abuse of laser grenades on jotuns and other big targets. i guess if you up the damage a lot more then yes, you can change the settings of the world mid game by just restarting and changing the config in game, so you can up the damage values to make early enemies stupidly dangerous and then tone it down latter when actually dangerous enemies appear, i don't think the lategame is balanced around having big damage multiplier applied to every enemy

however i haven't tried cranking up the damage that much lategame so it could still be playable i guess, it really depends if it affects things like the machinegun nests you find in some places

I'm going through reactors and I finally understand all the criticism I saw until now. Half the enemies I encounter are bullet sponges so exploring feels like shit. Guns are useless at this point, ammo was already annoying enough to get but now you also need a full stack to kill certain enemies so using anything ranged besides deatomizer seems retarded. Feels like the game is trying to pivot to a more action oriented direction but it conflicts with the survival crafing aspect.

Is reactors that bad? If you have an appropriate weapon from around that "Tier" you should be more than fine. For example I found that poking people with a lightning exor spear was still a pretty effective way to kill, and my sharp melee was only around 10 or so. The lightning Katana was also great (Throwing it could still get one shots against gatekepers)

What gun are you using? I do think guns are one of the weaker weapons but if you have a good gun skill and have been keeping up with gun upgrades it shouldn't be too bad. I think my friends were still rocking the antique shotgun just fine. I was able to one shot witches 50% of the time or so with a sneak headshot with the ice sniper rifle (Yes I know that's residences mind you but my accuracy skill was only like 8 or something)

>soviets did that shit in afghanistan for some reason

Soviets serving in Afghanistan were starving and would trade ammunition to the locals in exchange for food. They would boil the bullets for 4-5 hours because they *thought that boiling them would ruin the primer inside them without destroying the bullet and in effect let them trade worthless bullets the locals couldn't use.
*It didn't work. The bullets were fine.

Honestly after the first 3 bosses the game loses steam and feels kinda pointless. The outer 3 biomes go on forever which is honestly really dumb since once you see a little bit of any area you've pretty much seen everything it has to offer. No real incentive to explore an infinite repeating biome. If they were smart they would have made it a defined limited size world like what terraria does and add like 3+ more major biomes and/or something that reshapes the map like hardmode corruption/hallow. It doesn't need to spread it just needs to alter familiar areas into something new and fresh.
