What is your Exit plan for gaming?
Considering they're banning adults from using the internet by, I predict, 2030, what's your actual plan for being able to play vidyas when they're no longer available, and people over the age of 18 can no longer legally purchase them due to the restrictions? Personally, I just found my old PC DVD cases at my mom's house. I have Mass Effect 2 which can be installed without using EA Desktop or Steam. But then I realized, if OS is gonna comply to governments it means Windows 12 will probably scan for vidyas that are locally installed, and emulators, and put them under lockdown if the user has verified his age to be more than 18.

I'm thinking about building a Windows XP computer, and hoarding old consoles and games for them, so I can go back. Hopefully there won't come a time where the police can seize your devices because you're not allowed to game as an adult.

So, Online Safety Act is just the beginning of having to register your ID to your internet use, then more and more. It tracks your "movements" on the computer, giving government access to see how much each individual uses at home doing jack shit vs going to work, or being with their family.
Then the next step is that they'll use these ID systems to force compliant behaviors first on the internet, so you're temporarily banned from sites you use too much because it's an addiction. Then this will also apply to video game platforms like Steam, using the diagnosis of "Gaming Addiction" to flag users who can then no longer play video games while the Palantir has marked them as "addicted".

After that, they'll normalize it, and the next step is to simply ban adults from going on the internet because it's "problematic for society".

At that point the only way you can realistically game anymore, is to use offline hardware like an old pc and DVDs, or consoles that don't use the internet.

That is, if it's legal at that point.

They want to decide what you're able to do with computers going forward. Only kids are allowed to view child-safe content and play games that are stupid and made for kids, until they have to be adults and serve society.

>You're deluded if you think profit is not the only thing that really matters to big corpos and such
And you're deluded if you think corporations aren't just the third arm of the Government at this point. They say "Corporations are running your governments" but it's the reverse. It's governments who are running the corporations now. They're autonomous, sure, but the amount of legal government-enforced compliance they have to uphold has increased and it's slipping. The biggest companies encounter the FTC or other regulators, and the regulators answer directly to the federal state or EU governments, and those dictate what a large company is allowed to do as a platform, once it's deemed to be "too behaviorally influential". That's why Blackrock is causing all the assets it controls to comply with ESG and free-speech diminishing rules. It's why you can't be critical about indian migration on Reddit without getting an account ban for 7 days.

It's the Government's agenda, and the next step in that, is to use the regulators and thus the corporate giants to force adults to leave their computers unless it's a work PC used at a workplace.

But video games are making us notice things, such as DEI, and the fact that it's mandated through governments around the world, setting the Governance rules for the big asset managers.

And it's because we've noticed their last ditch effort is to fully restrict and criminalize certain behaviors, so that like in the UK, if you say the wrong thing you'll get police visits. That will just be expanded to video games soon. If you sit down and play a game while being in NEET mode, they'll come and knock.

I actually believe the online noticing is less effective than IRL private noticing. I had to quit my NEET position recently, and I've spoken to people that made me aware of some things happening in society I never noticed before. And it's common sense with a lot of them. Some 47 year olds telling me a lot of old secrets that they just know from circles of people, and how badly we're fucked in the west.

It reminds me of back in 2011 when I was talking about Mists of Pandaria and my high school friend just said "Dude... it's literally being made to pander to China." Nobody said that on Reddit. Nobody said that on 4chan.

There's many bongs in here. It wasn't banned. The UK is literally sending fines to them daily, because they haven't lived up to the rules of the Online Safety Act (rape videos and loli threads in other subreddits)

They can't shut it down because the UK doesn't govern it. But they can transnationally sanction it, and they're doing that. In 2026 the EU will begin their version of this, and then life is gonna get very expensive for "Moot" (but it's actually just CIA lmao)

And then Kids Online Safety Act will pass, and then the US will simply put a Cease and Desist on this site.

I hate DEI because it forces diversity and equality independently of the thoughts and feelings of who is working on a video game.
I don't hate diversity in itself. I just hate DEI, because it forces compliance, and often results in something that feels like government propaganda.

Every year at these trade shows for the last nearly 10 years, it was increasingly girlboss and sassy black women with attitude, but now that all that shit bombed and the USAID money has dried up, it's all dollar store dark fantasy Fromslop. The only shit on the horizon that even vaguely piques my interest is Silent Hill f, Cronos, and Resident Evil 9.

I couldn't give a shit less about Switch 2 because it feels like Nintendo is creatively spinning out in the mud, and overcharging everyone for the privilege to replay the same shit that they've been making over and over again for the last 25 years.

OP here. You have to assume this is the result of millenials becoming full adults while only having video games as their cultural handprint, and besides that, the mental illness of society infecting us all. Or maybe it's just autism.

I believe all that I think and say is "correct" but because of maybe autism, the way I put it sounds a bit strange, and gives off the impression that I might be an insane person, but in reality, everything I've said is the truth and one day everybody will look back and say "that was correct".

This just doesn't track though. The EU have been made enemies of America and the MAGA movement precisely because they kept targeting and sanctioning the Big Tech companies. Not just for compliance out of failure to moderate harmful content, but because they have monopoly on the market. Stuff like this is arguably why all the Big Techs concerted around the MAGA movement to get it back into power: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ks3ZB_H1OZM
This is an attack precisely on the people like Bezos. It's not an attack on the consumers.
But the Online Safety Act, and Deadening of the Internet definitely is.
And it would seem weird to me that the same EU that fined Big Tech, are the ones who are going to target users' privacy.

Or maybe it is the same, and they're simply targeting both, but they are targeting both.

There was never a version of this where the bigwigs like Bezos weren't threatened. The reason the Democrats in the US became woke is because the EU Commision was overrun by socialists and commies. I'm from the same country as the woman in this video. She was a very prominent politicians in the country, and if you went to copenhagen in 2015-present everyone is exactly like her. They were talking about "Heteronormativity", they were talking about "Large businesses being evil" and "people using the internet are weirdoes" etc.

Any way I see it, it's the EU that is behind the deadening of the internet. The big corporations have just been fighting a losing battle against governmental overreach, and now it's reaching their users. That includes video games, because it's ultimately also a Big Tech industry that perpetuates itself based on the aim to become "the biggest".

If the Corporate America died, there wouldn't be video games. Japan wouldn't figure out how to make it worldwide, and the EU wouldn't bat an eye if they could no longer make and sell games to consumers. It's driven by the american "free market", which has been attacked by outside actors.
