i am working on a sci-fi novel where humans are a minor player on the galactic scene because of how unreliable they are. most other species for ventures that last centuries and artificially enhance themselves to live for hundreds of years, and a single succesfull leader of a guild or corporation can easily rule for half of a millennia.
humans also never get along with eachother, while in-species wars are a rarity for other races since leaders live long lives, and not playing by the rules usually gets you killed quickly
