Whoever wrote the Codex and the general lore behind it had everything they worked on pissed all over by the time you first get to the Citadel.
ME1 is constant CBT because listening to Codex snippets feels like youre in a cool new Sci Fi series and not generic Bioshit.
I want that feeling I got the first night I played as a teenager where I stopped after addressing the council. Nothing had been ruined yet (this was 18 years ago) and it was far too early in the series and even first game for any of the stinky and reality to sink in, it felt like there was going to be this Star Wars scale but "modern" and mature space opera franchise releasing, especially if you had followed since the first announcement in 2004 or so.
Oh well.
