I have known Shantae for way over a decade, but only now I decided to play her games.
Bought all of the games in this sale that happened before Risky Revolution released and man, I can't believe I slept on this series for this long.
Finished Seven Sirens and now I'm playing Half Genie Hero and these games are really damn fun.
The hand drawn sprites and animations, the stages, the transformations, everything is quite nice and fun to play, and honestly it has been a long time since I had fun with "new" games.
After I'm done with Half Genie Hero I'm gonna play the games in chronological order from the ones I have on Steam, mostly as an excuse to play Risky Revolution already.
Here's hoping that the rest of the franchise is just as fun, maybe after I'm done with everything I'll emulate the first game since it's not on Steam.

It is just a deeply enjoyable series.
Man, twentyfour years and only six games. I do find it funny Shantae gets a pass in the west when other games and series with cute sexy women shaking their ass are loathed.

i mean, yeah kinda. the people that really care about the IP blew their load when the cartridge released, i bet the turn up is way lower because it took too long. i played it on gba when it released, i 100% it and saw everything. i almost didnt care about the pc port but i needed a game for the graveyard shift.

Very weird that you can miss the elephant transformation in Chapter 2. I did the dungeon and then needed the elephant after, so I checked online and people on reddit had the elephant power but hadn't done the second dungeon.

The story is not really a major component of this series. Any major overarching plot beats only really tend to come up at the very beginning or very end of each game. Like you can tell someone who has only played Pirate's Curse that Shantae lacks her powers in that game because Risky seals away her powers in the previous game and that's all anyone would need to know about Risky's Revenge on a story level.
