companies got lazy and bloated because tech kept improving so fast for decades. every few years people had no choice but to upgrade their computers, phones, and gadgets. back then a 2-3 year gap meant huge gainsβpcs doubled in speed, hdds doubled in size, ssds got faster, displays looked way better and cheaper, phones improved in every possible way year after year.
but now in 2025 that ride is over. a phone from 5 years ago is still perfectly fine, pcs are only a little faster, storage is stuck (bought a 4tb hdd in 2020 for $80, still $80 for 4tb today), and display tech improvements take forever to trickle down.
so these companies keep pushing the same marketing crap theyβve used for decades, but nobodyβs falling for it anymore. anyone over 20 remembers the sd to hd tv jump and can see theyβre just recycling the same tired pitch, while the stuff we already own still works and looks good enough.
