It's turn-based combat. It's actually pretty unique in my opinion, you're controlling a single source of HP and SP but your party members define the weapons and skills.
The first game has a demo, I don't know where it ends but it should give you an idea.

Yes. 2 has some small changes that make it a little more fun, but the sequels are very derivative with very few improvements. Not worth spending money on three whole 25+ hour games for. The characters hardly get any better either with an absolute dogshit story in 3. "Le shonen shift" is a nonsense criticism constantly parroted on here. The writing just gets bad and lazy regardless.

There's no evidence pointing to 2 or 3 having done decently. They've specifically kept the budget numbers private for them which definitely feels intentional. Despite the vaguely worded "540,000 downloads" in a recent interview with Matsuyama (despite the 500k milestone being several months back too), they very well could have not made back the budgets for 2 and 3 yet, and I'd say that's the most likely case considering CC2's insistence that you can skip Fuga 1 and 2 and go straight to 3, likely in an effort to boost its sale numbers.

nice retcon. speaking of those, i have this serious idea if they are going to make any new games set in LTB. After clearing each stage, (no idea what kind of game this will but whatever) you find an old dusty photo album you collect pictures for:

Malt &Co from the first game, gather annually to celebrate end of the Gasco-Berman war. They take pictures each time, we see them grow older, year by year , hinting who married who, Malt meets girl who looks like Vanilla, Hanna ends up with Kyle. Socks with Boron. Blitz with Sheena etc.
There are also small notes. One of the kids becomes a writer to deal with her/his PTSD so they events from the second and third game are referenced but did not really happen it was all made up.
