At first i did the kind of meditation practice where you try to just focus on something and block out all other thoughts. During this of course other thoughts come along. There are different techniques to get them to go away, and i started noticing different thoughts seemed to have a different character, some were easier to make go away than others to the point that i would be cognoscente that there was a thought but i could not even remember what the thought was. Others would return and more effort was required. This was the first puzzle piece: different thoughts are actually different kinds of things, its not all just 'thoughts'. Further experimentation reinforced this. Some thoughts are friendly, others less so, different personalities. The thoughts can be thought of as an entity which contains the actual content of the thoughts, so im not saying 'thinking of different kinds of things', there is not necessarily any correlation between the subject of the thought and its personality type.
i started to notice 'intrusive thoughts' have a certain character. I think people only notice intrusive thoughts when they contain something alarming, not realizing that they have many other intrusive thoughts which seem mundane in their content, and so these easily spring into our train of thought with out notice.
one example, when i was shopping and looking for peanut butter while looking at the different brands, i would think to myself 'thats not the kind we get, we get that! kind'. I realized that i was repeating something i heard as a young child my mom say. She essentially infected me with this thoughtform, this string of linguistics was not my own thinking, but hers, perhaps she got it from someone else.
I then realized that this is essentially what daemons are according to the greeks, and our idea of demons just comes from that. We has mystified them and given them a more negative connotation, but its the same kind of entity.
