I miss the ‘00s obsession with beaches
The dramatic improvement in graphics brought about by the 6th gen allowed devs to flex their muscles with new effects such as water, advanced lighting, and physics. But at the same time it was all done in an era before the generic photorealistic look took over, and locales still had to be interpreted by an artist first and foremost, which resulted in a lot of iconic, wholesome beach levels. As games began chasing realism, we lost that magic. Now, everything aims to look as close to real life as possible, and that dreamlike, slightly exaggerated charm has faded away.

In those games, you can see a mixture of tech and genuine love for the planet with hopes for the future. We will never see such optimism again.

Star Ocean 3 was the best Star Ocean game. You fags can keep pretending it was 2 but it's not even a contest. At least 2R woke some people up to how mediocre SO2 was.

Beaches were only considered beautiful until they were ghettofied. Making pristine beaches means mucking them up with the usual suspects

Here lies a monument to your contribution. A single dot. The ellipsis of thought. A silent nod in the cacophony of autism. Beautiful.

Beaches represent hope and freedom. As you gaze out over the sparkling, endless ocean you can't help but imagine the possibilities of what lay over the horizon. You may even dream of escaping one day to someplace else as the ocean breeze subtly nudges in its direction you with every gust. To dream of a life somewhere away from the sandy border of you current island isn't something people dream about anymore.

To see the beauty of the beach you must have hope in your world, something that does not exist in the present day. As a symbol the beach is dead just like our civilisation.

Don't think that's in-game and it's just fan made. Peach however is in a bikini for the Super Mario Odyssey beach level (sorry footfags she's still wearing shoes for some reason).
